Daze Between New Orleans is a two-day event taking place on the “Daze Between” New Orleans Jazz Fest weekends, Tuesday May 2-Wednesday May 3, 2023, at the Faubourg Brewery in New Orleans. The event will bring together some of the finest musicians from the Big Easy and beyond on 2 full stages, tapping into the worlds of jazz, funk, jam, folk, and more to create a musical gumbo reflective of the collaborative spirit that makes this city unlike anywhere else. In addition to music, fans may enjoy all that Faubourg has to offer, from a top-notch beer selection to fantastic traditional Louisiana cuisine. Single and two-day passes are available HERE, as well as a variety of VIP options and travel packages to elevate the experiences.
The event will benefit Rex Foundation, an organization founded by the Grateful Dead in 1984, that writes grants to small nonprofit organizations doing great work in the arts, sciences, education, environment, indigenous culture, and social justice. All funds raised during Daze Between New Orleans will go exclusively to New Orleans based non-profit organizations via Rex Foundation’s granting process. To donate to this campaign, you can text DAZE to (202) 858-1233 or go to www.rexfoundation.org/DazeBetweenNOLA.
The Daze Between New Orleans virtual auction, hosted by Rex Foundation, will feature New Orleans and Grateful Dead themed artwork, experiences, and memorabilia, with all proceeds going to support local New Orleans nonprofit organizations.
About Rex Foundation: From their earliest days, the Grateful Dead received countless requests for help from community organizations. The band became known for their generosity and their numerous benefit concerts. In 1984, members of the band, with family and friends, established Rex Foundation as a non-profit charitable organization, allowing the band to proactively support creative endeavors in the arts, sciences, and education. Rex Foundation identifies those who are out there doing good work, those who might be overlooked, those who are trying to make a difference in their communities, and then provides the funding those people need to carry out their missions.
Faubourg Brewery, founded as Dixie Brewing in 1907, is the oldest operating brewery in New Orleans. After the original brewery location was decimated in Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans owners Tom and Gayle Benson purchased and revived the brand with the goal of bringing brewing operations back home to create jobs and spur local economic growth. Committed to making it a unified and welcoming home for future generations, they renamed the brewery Faubourg, which is a french word used interchangeably with “neighborhood”. Faubourg was voted Top Craft Brewery in 2022 by the readers of both New Orleans Magazine and Where Y’at magazine.
Renowned local artist Frenchy will live paint the event, and host a gallery of his work on-site. A portion of proceeds from sales will go to local NOLA orgs via the Rex Foundation, and his live painting will be included in their auction.
The Artist Village will also house a variety of local artisans and vendors.
For the first time, Daze Between New Orleans 2023 will also partner with the venerable Relix Magazine to present daily musical conversations with event performers, local artists, and other influential figures in the music world. In addition, the event will feature a specially curated Artist Village showcasing a variety of local artisans and vendors, along with all that the recently renovated Faubourg Brewery has to offer, from a top-notch beer selection to fantastic traditional Louisiana cuisine.
